Why should Teams and Organizations invest in Relationship Systems Training?

There is considerable research that identifies a positive work environment as a prerequisite for sustained productivity and employee retention (Buckingham 2001, Goleman 2002). Coaching increases positivity through working from possibilities and practical application. Systems Coaching powerfully leverages the creative and problem solving capacity of a team or organization as a whole. Some of the benefits of relationship systems coaching for teams and organizations include:

  • Sustainable improvements torelationships and communication on a system-wide basis.
  • The development of a powerful sense of team spirit which enhances organizational climate, productivity and retention.
  • Improved inter-departmental cooperation through the reduction of "silos".
  • The development of constructive conflict skills, leading to more rapid resolution and productive outcomes.
  • Increased positivity within the work environment, which supports sustainable productivity.
  • The capacity to increase the creative potential of the organization or team.

Center for Right Relationship offers a unique program designed specifically to teach the systems approach and ORSC methodology to teams and organizations called Optimizing Team Performance. The program consists of three courses:

Optimizing Team Performance: Organization and Relationship Systems Training for Managers, Employees and Teams

Most team approaches look at leadership and team development from the standpoint of developing individuals on the team. This approach examines individual performance within the group. Optimizing Team Performance is a corporate form of the ORSC training which develops the entire team using a systems-based approach. Participants acquire direct experience of the model and practice the competencies needed by business professionals to work directly with their team or organization. The training can be taken by individual managers who then take the tools back to their teams, or can be taken by intact teams who work directly on their team system together. The program is a series of three trainings which build upon one another. The first course is also designed to stand alone. The courses are scaleable and can be taken in a two or three day format.

The Geography of Relationship Systems

Organizations, teams and business partnerships have a topography of interlocking roles which impact the functioning of the system. This course works with streamlining outer roles, or job function, and addresses inner roles, the often unconscious emotional roles team players play such as disturber, peacemaker etc. Ghost roles are also addressed: the impact of invisible forces or people on the system. Examples might be the ghost of the organization’s founder, or the threat of layoff. Geography of Relationship Systems provides a tool for silo busting (an exercise called “Lands Work”) which enables participants to appreciate and empathetically experience the interdependence between organizational departments.

Course Outcomes - Participants will know how to:

  • Identify and alleviate outer role dysfunctions such as role confusion, nausea,
     poorly occupied roles etc.
  • Identify and align team inner roles so the emotional functioning of the system runs smoothly.
  • "Ghost bust" negative influences affecting team performance.
  • Break down silos by using Lands Work to visit and appreciate the different worlds of organizational departments.
